Rhiannon + Chris – Storrs-Mansfield, CT Engagement Session Photos
June 9th, 2009Erik and I were on our way up to Storrs-Mansfield to meet up with Rhiannon and Chris. The sky was threatening to open up and pour down on us the whole way there, and we wondered aloud if our luck had finally run out! Well, our luck did run out in a way, but as you will see, we were repaid with some amazing moments, and the day turned out to be a great success! Both Rhiannon and Chris have electric personalities, and their enthusiasm for having their pictures taken, coupled with their willingness to seize the moment made for an incredible session.
On the way to the first location, Chris turned down a road that led to a correctional facility. Erik and I were joking that they wanted to do a “Johnny Cash at the Folsom State Prison” theme, but as it turned out they had spotted this majestic willow tree and wanted to be photographed in front of it

They were having so much fun from the beginning.

Rhiannon has such a great smile and beautiful eyes.

We love this, a quiet moment together.

A shot of Rhiannon’s gorgeous engagement ring.

Then we were off to the next location. We followed a canopied path by the river and found this great spot ![]()

So, a little set up – the four of us were sitting in our cars waiting out a torrential downpour and hoping that it would pass at some point. As we were waiting, Erik kept looking in the rearview mirror for any sign of the rain stopping, and little by little, a crack of light began escaping from the black clouds. As we were watching it get bigger and bigger, we turned forward and saw the most amazing sight before us – a giant rainbow on the horizon! We all jumped out of our cars (leaving them running, and with the doors open on the side of the road), and ran as fast as we could to the bottom of the hill to get the shot(s) before it disappeared!

Needless to say, we were all ecstatic, especially since we had been talking about a wedding we had done almost a year to the day where we were blessed with a double rainbow, and telling them about “No Rain, No Rainbows”.

We love the sun rays coming through the rainbow behind them!

Almost as soon as it had appeared it vanished, and Erik and I were left with some of the most dramatic clouds we had seen in a long time. Rhiannon and Chris were having a lot of fun as well!

Steamy!

We love the way Rhiannon is looking at the camera here..

more dramatic sun rays – we were overloaded with such beautiful sights. This is my view.

Erik’s view a moment later.

Rhiannon & Chris enjoying some quality time up on the hill overlooking the countryside.

They both look so comfortable together don’t you think?

We absolutely love the way they are holding each other in this shot.

The moment before the kiss, always a favorite ![]()

; )

Chris and Rhiannon, we had too much fun with you both! (no rain, no rainbows!) We cannot wait for your wedding in a few weeks, and we feel so blessed to work with a couple like yourselves who are willing to do what it takes to get the shot ; )
xoxo,
Vicki and Erik
