Our last wedding of 2011, and we are going out with a bang! When we originally met with Stacey & Mike and they told us they weren’t interested in getting married at a traditional venue for their wedding, we were intrigued to find out that they were planning on having everything at the Bee & Thistle Inn in Old Lyme, CT. They told us that while it is unique, full of charm, and a special destination in it’s own right, it truly comes alive and is even more magical around the holidays. What they promised certainly delivered, and what they had envisioned for their big day was a photographers dream. Not only are the grounds surrounding the Inn perfect for photographs (and we loved how gorgeous Stacey looked in her Maggie Sotero wedding gown – elegant, classy and smoking hot), inside the Inn is like being transported into every cool thing you can imagine when you think of a great bed and breakfast in New England. Candles everywhere, at least two Christmas trees absolutely bursting with lights and ornaments, a parrot that slept soundly under his blanket while a three piece band played between him and guests enjoying themselves on plush couches, and bookcases and tables stuffed with vintage magazines and classic novels. It was the kind of experience that we are sure their friends and families will never forget, and we are pretty stoked that we got to document it all. One of the best parts? Spending some quality time with Stacey and Mike for their portraits outside, sharing laughs and excitement on a crisp December day at the Bee & Thistle Inn.

Happy New Year! With a new year comes changes, and we are excited to be revealing an evolution to our business that we can’t wait to share with everyone, soon . Before we can move forward into all of the incredible weddings and events that we have yet to shoot (and we can’t wait to get started!) we have a few more events to show our faithful blog stalkers and fans, starting with Colleen + Brendan and their beautiful wedding at St. Clements Castle in Portland, CT. When you have a couple this in love, and perfectly paired together as these two (and supremely sweet, funny and charming), it makes for a really fun day that doesn’t ever feel like we are at work. Colleen looked absolutely stunning, and it was pretty obvious that Brendan agreed with us as he couldn’t keep his eyes off of her the entire day, and the magic between them made for some truly great photographs.

When you are meant to be with someone – your soul mate, your partner in life, the person you depend on when everything else fails – you just know from the onset and are willing to travel through any of life’s trials and tribulations to continue to be with that person. Even if you fell in love in high school, were separated from each other to build a career or work on a life goal, and worked through a long distance relationship until you could be united again. We love the story of Alessandra + John, and were touched to be a part of their unification after years of not being with each other every day. It proves that when something is just right, you are willing to go to any lengths to see that it comes to fruition. We have a lot of faith that these two are going to continue to be a hot item and grow in their lives together, and continue to bring smiles to the faces of everyone they surround themselves with. Because that is what life is really all about we think. Sharing love with those around you and not taking things too seriously . On their wedding day we were truly blessed to experience so many amazing moments and wonderful details. We fell in love with Alessandra’s wedding gown by Romona Keveza Legends and she looked simple incredible in it, accompanied by her beautifully flowing Toni Federici veil. We always love guys in bow ties, and John looked perfect – and was a handsome accompaniment to his beautiful bride. Part of what made the day so special was that Vicki and I photographed all of the family and the bride and groom on Alessandra’s parents property, and it was just about everything we could have asked for – ivy covered trees, stone fences and beautiful sunlit fields. It is the kind of backyard that we could have spent all day just photographing Alessandra + John. We can only hope that they are the type of couple to have a formal vow renewal, because we simply can’t wait to take pictures of them again (hint hint)!
