Magical Creatures

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

I have to confess I have some phobias about bugs. All kinds of bugs – especially spiders. Don’t get me wrong, I have serious respect for all living things…but those arthropods terrify me. (Did you know that lobsters, crabs and shrimp are also arthropods? I call them all “sea spiders”.) Not that long ago I discovered a wolf spider living in my backyard, and I did actually take some pictures of it (with a LONG lens!). I don”t think I will post those – man those spiders are scary looking close up!! What I did want share today was the fact that I saw this really cool looking dragonfly for the past few days – a dragonfly like I have never seen before. One of the greatest things that photography gives me is this ability to see things differently. It actually has trained me to “see” and pay attention to things I may not otherwise. Or maybe I have it backwards. I have been using a camera in conjuction with “seeing” for so long, I am not necessarily sure how it works. All I know for sure is that I love the moments with just my camera, and the little magical “things” – creatures, people, moments….

So I spent the afternoon today literally stalking this dragonfly. I just found it to be so incredibly beautiful. Enjoy!

Ok, not really…but I do feel special today. A wedding planner that I worked with in San Francisco, Kristeen of Just Weddings just posted a bit about me on her blog. I am so flattered ; ) I will take this opportunity to say that I am available for travel for your destination wedding – contact me for the details!

That being said, if you are looking for a wedding coordinator, you should consider contacting Kristeen. She truly knows her stuff about the “Wedding World”, in fact she coordinated my own wedding (which couldn’t have been more perfect). She is approachable, knowledgeable, and very creative, and gets stuff done like I have never seen. She is willing to travel – and is fluent in Italian. She is really down to earth and easy to work with. What more could you want in a wedding planner? Her packages are fully customizable – you decide how much planning you want – and are reasonably priced. Be sure to check her out, and keep her in mind for your wedding or event!

Katie + Mike – Water’s Edge, Westbrook, CT Wedding Photos

What a gorgeous Saturday we had at the Water’s Edge Resort and Spa in Westbrook, CT – a perfect day for the perfect wedding of Katie & Mike! I feel so lucky that I get to be a part of such amazing experiences. Katie and Mike are one of those couples that I fell in love with the moment I met them. Katie is a beautiful soul – so sweet it hurts a little. Mike is probably one of the warmest and most genuine people I have ever met. A perfect match ; ) For those of you who don’t know, I get VERY attached to my couples – and I always fall in love a little too. I also feel honored that I get to have my amazingly talented husband along side of me to help capture such incredible moments.

The day started with Katie getting ready at The Water’s Edge. Erik got this shot of Katie’s Mom putting on her earrings:

I always love the hairspray shots (and always hope it doesn’t get on my lens):

An awesome one Erik took – putting on the veil:

My view:

The final touches:

Ready to go!

Katie & her Mom:

Gorgeous! I love this one ; )

Then we went to find Mike – who was so excited!

I LOVE this shot:

Mike beaming as Katie is walked down the aisle by Dad:

Here she comes!

Erik’s View:

Gettin’ Married!

Grandma:

My Favorite moment of the day. Still gets me a little misty ; )

The Kiss – to seal the deal:

Just Married!

Walking down to the beach for the formals:

It was such a nice day, there were a lot of people watching the newlyweds as we walked by – and there was an announcement on the loudspeaker!

The happy couple:

Erik took this AMAZING shot of their rings:

My favorite cake shot ever:

The reception was rockin’ thanks to Milestone Entertainement of New England. They were some of the best DJ’s I have ever worked with and were a pleasure to get to know – true professionals.

We had an awesome time! It was a beautiful day. Mike and Katie – and all of your family and friends – thank you for so warmly welcoming Erik & me in, and allowing us to be so involved in your day. I can’t wait to see pictures from your Honeymoon!
