It was a perfect day in New York City. There was an abundance of sunshine with a cool breeze coming in from the water, and Erik and I were together with another couple in love! We adore the city – there are always interesting locations to be found even within a small radius, so it is always a new experience whenever we are there. And let us tell you, we were absolutely thrilled to work with Melissa and Jim. Melissa is stunning and an absolute sweetheart, and Jim is a true gentlemen and handsome as well. What more could we ask for?

We started at P.J. Clarke’s, the location where Melissa and Jim had their first date. Melissa was friends with one of Jim’s roommates, and the rest is history, as they say. We love this shot.

We love the angle, and the mood of this one.

As photographers, when two people allow us to capture moments like this, in a crowded restaurant no less, it blows us away.

Just outside and down the street, we asked them to stop by this fun wall art for a couple of quick shots.

We continued on down the street to the Hudson Hotel and were immediately taken by the escalator and the lighting surrounding it.

How fun is this? Jim even changed his position, unasked, as he was going up the escalator so that we could get both of them in the image. It was almost like they have done this before!

We love the lighting in this one as well.

A quick intimate moment in front of these doors – we were loving the yellow light coming through.

And then we were off to Central Park! The park was filled with people enjoying the long weekend and the photo shoot as well. Melissa and Jim did such an amazing job of looking like they were the only two people there that day.

We think this one is incredibly romantic!

Further in, we stopped to capture them in front of just one of the many skylines in NYC.

We ended the day, after (rock-hard) pretzel’s and ice-cream (thank you!) with Melissa spending some quality time with one of the horses in the carriage line at the edge of the park.

Melissa and Jim, it was a true pleasure to work with two sweet and caring people that have such a strong presence together. Erik and I were smiling as we went over these photos together, and it is day’s like these that remind us why we are so grateful to do what we do for a living. We cannot wait to get you both in front of the camera again, on your wedding day!

Erik & I were looking forward to working with Amanda & Will. Will is a teacher in the school district where we live, and when my nephew Joseph, and niece Karianne heard we were photographing “Mr. Kirk”, they were super excited. They told us that he is one of their favorite teachers! It was apparent that many other kids feel the same way, because as we were photographing them, a whole bunch of kids that happened to be in the same park as us kept interrupting with “Oh my god, is that Mr. Kirk? Hi Mr. Kirk!”, all throughout the session. Amanda and Will are an adorable couple who both happen to be teachers! We had a blast hanging out with them and getting to know them better than before

We told them to “just be cute!”, and this was the result. Pretty good huh?

Wolfe Park is so pretty this time of year, and the newly green trees make for a beautiful backdrop with the setting sun peeking in on us.

We love the light in this one, one of our favorite ways to capture two people so comfortable with one another.

We found this great bridge overlooking a creek and decided to hop on some rocks for the perfect position! Erik and I always say we do whatever it takes to get the shot, even if it means almost falling in!

So as we were heading down to the lake, we spied a little hill where the sun was coming down at such a perfect angle and knew we would have to head up it to capture it while we could

It was also nice to be in a little more of a private area without someone yelling out Will’s last name every 5 minutes so that Amanda and Will could get some “quality time” ;p

We love the way Amanda is looking at Will in this one!

Erik and I were on our way up to Ragged HIll Orchard on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. We were excited to meet up with Sarah and Steve on the apple orchard where she grew up, because apple orchards remind Erik of his family in Northern California. There is something so special about apple cider, apple fritters (as big as your head) and crisp, fresh apples, and we make a point of indulging in these when we go back to visit. So although apple fritters weren’t on the day’s menu, the fragrance of the apple blossoms hung heavy in the air as we spent a wonderful afternoon with an in-love couple Sarah and Steve were a pleasure to work with, and when two people are as into each other as they are, it makes our jobs almost too easy!

It was REALLY windy, so we headed down the hill to find some relief in between the trees and captured this shot.

A classic pose. We literally just told them to be themselves (well, truth be told Erik did mention something about kissing!)

This shot has spring written all over it! We loved the dandelions everywhere.

The apple trees and the sweet smells of the blossoms were incredible.

It wasn’t just Erik and I enjoying the beauty!

Sarah’s father left out their tractor on a little hill overlooking the orchard and we knew we had to capture them in front of it.

As we headed down to the bottom of the hill, we noticed a canopied pathway that had the most amazing light coming in.

It’s light like this that gets us super excited! I think Erik and I were saying “wow” after every couple of shots.

We absolutely love the blossoming trees fading off into the distance, with Sarah & Steve capturing all of our attention in this shot.
