Bones

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Any of you out there watch this show on Fox – Bones? It has slowly become my new obsession. I started watching it a bit last year, and now I just started watching the complete first season to catch up. Kathy Reichs, the forensic anthropologist on who life the main character is based, is one of my all-time heroes. I studied this woman (and her work) in college (I was an anthropology major, with an interest in forensics), and she is an absolute genius! I watched the show a few times before I realized that it was based on her experiences, and later learned, based on her crime novels (which I have yet to read…in my spare time). For any of you out there who love a good, gory, crime-solving show, this is the absolute ultimate in entertainment!! And if you don’t already know human anatomy and the names of all the 206 bones (in adults, 300+ in babies and children), you will surely learn them! Even all of the bones in feet & hands (which make up more than 50% of the total bones in an adult). Ok, so this isn’t really photography related…..except that, I find it helps to have an understanding of the human body as the complex thing that it is, as an artist. Ha ha. Welcome to my dorky world ; )

well it is a good thing Autumn tagged me and reminded me that I have a blog I need to post to! I have soooo many images that I have been meaning to post – don’t I say that every time? They will have to wait a few more days…..

THE RULES:
1. Post these rules before you give the facts.
2. List eight (8) random facts about yourself.
3. At the end of your post, choose (tag) someone and list their name (linking to their page.)
4. Leave them a comment on their blog letting them know they’ve been tagged!

1. I am fascinated with the human body, and I am known to read books about human decomposition, insects, forensics, and human anatomy & physiology.

2. I have a B.A. in Anthropology (cultural) and English (which often surprises my husband since my grammar is soooo bad!).

3. The first thing I ever wanted to be “when I grow up” was a stripper (I was 5 or 6 and didn’t really understand what i was saying!).

4. I STILL think its funny when people trip and fall, and The City of Lost Children makes me cry.

5. I have a tattoo of a turtle over my heart for strength.

6. I am a Sagittarius with a Cancer rising….born in the year of the tiger.

7. I am currently obsessed with going to Paris.

8. I get fixated on somthing and that is all I think about…until I am satisfied and move on to something new (see above fixation with Paris. Others obsessions have been Gemology, Astrology, Mathematics, CSI (Las Vegas), Cats, Thai Food, Native American History & Culture, Photoshop – this one seems to be ongoing! – Knitting – thanks to my mother-in-lawHuman Decomposition and Determining Time of Death…..I could go on….)

Are those facts random enough?

Now to tag some others….

Blog Stalking

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

This is gonna be a short entry…with no images. I wanted to tell you about this cool thing I just discovered! I watch the The Photoshop Guys on their podcast religiously, and a few weeks ago they suggested Bloglines to manage subscriptions to multiple blogs. I gotta tell you that this site is really cool! Instead of having to go through my lists of favorite blogs, and checking them to see if there are any new posts, I can just log in to my account in bloglines and it lets me know if anyone had any new posts. How cool is that?? Easy breezy baby! I love technology (sung in the voice of Kip from Napoleon Dynamite).
