Jessica & Nick’s summer wedding at the Guilford Yacht club was a beautiful affair. It was so classic and romantic, with all of their details matching the nautical theme of the yacht club. The two of them together were simply incredible – Jessica’s Modern Trousseau bridal gown looked amazing on her, and Nick’s grey pin striped suit, with blue flecked tie and pocket square made him an even more perfect match for his bride. In fact everything about their wedding had a timeless elegance. We love photographing weddings at the Guilford Yacht Club, because of the lovely grounds and the sunlit rooms inside, and also because we love Jordan Caterers fabulous food! All around it was a fabulous day and a joy for us to photograph.

It is hard to say what our favorite part of Emily & Kathir’s Hindu ceremony was. Was it the joyous celebration that was Kathir’s processional toward the ceremony, accompanied by musicians, dancing, with flower petals being flung about by happy, laughing friends and family? Maybe it was Emily’s beautiful henna or her gorgeous sari that became even more fun to photograph with each flower garland that was placed around her neck? It could have been the ceremony itself, with all of the golds and reds framing the traditional Hindu joining of Emily & Kathir and the spectacle of each step in the process. Or maybe it was the quiet time Vicki and I spent with the bride and groom, away from all of the excitement, just capturing the essence of the two of them together. It is hard to say what our favorite part of the day was, but one thing is for sure – that we left happy, not only from everything we saw and experienced (and ate – the food was oh-my-God-good), but from the knowledge that we are going to have the opportunity to photograph them again for their western ceremony and reception. We can’t wait to see what the final chapter in our trilogy with Emily + Kathir will bring!

It is the one thing that no bride wants to hear on their wedding day – the forecast calls for rain. All sorts of things probably run through her head, and the temptation to worry becomes all too tantalizing. We know differently – that a little rain is easy to work around, and without rain, you don’t need to have pretty parasols, or the potential for rainbows. While we didn’t get a rainbow at the fabulous wedding of Sarah & Todd at the beautiful and historic Burr Homestead, we all got to witness the joining of two soul mates, and all of the revelry of their friends and families there to partake in an amazing day. The rain was there, to be sure, and it gave the gardens, trees and hedges surrounding the mansion an unbelievably beautiful sheen that framed Sarah and Todd perfectly. They were willing to get a little wet, we were willing to get a little dirty, and the pictures only show the sort of thing that make the previous two points obsolete when Sarah & Todd look at them on their 50th wedding anniversary. That on their wedding day they were so much in love with each other, and their day couldn’t have been any more perfect just how it was.
