Vicki and I have a short list of our favorite locations to photograph our couples, whether for a portrait shoot or wedding. When we meet with our couples for the first time and find out that they have planned their shoot at one of the spots on our list, we can’t help but get excited. Kristina & Mike’s gorgeous wedding was all shot at the Inn at Longshore, and we couldn’t have been happier to spend the day with them at such a beautiful location. One of the many reasons we love the venue is the ceremony location – manicured grass fields overlooking a quaint beach and the Sound, populated by sailboats and egrets. Add all of that into the perfect spring day that Kristina and Mike had and it makes us love our jobs even more than we already do.

Kristina and Mike looked incredible, and perfect together – Kristina was absolutely stunning in her Olivia Couture Gown from Kleinfield, and both were accented by their beautiful flowers from Just for You Floral Design Studio. One of the interesting details about their day was the wedding cake from The Sweet Spot. Not only was it visually exquisite, it also happened to be one hundred percent vegan (so that Mike could not only have his cake, but eat it too ).

We had a blast as usual photographing all of the revelry during the reception with the absolutely phenomenal StarQuest, who kept everyone rocking (including us!) all night long.

There is something about our first wedding of the year that is special to us. We have had time to reflect on the many things we have learned from and been inspired by the previous year, and the time we have spent together with the most cherished people in our lives, our family and close friends is nourishment for our creative process.

Our first wedding is almost always in the spring, and with the newly blossoming life around us, it is the perfect canvas for us to create what we have been blessed to be able to do – the documentation of a singularly important day in the lives of two people joining together in marriage. Alex & Matt strengthened the bond they already had together, and we feel stronger in our own relationship simply by having witnessed their ceremony and the celebration that followed.

We often tell people when we first meet with them that we can be overcome by emotions during a wedding, and that it happens quite a bit. This simply isn’t just something we say to make a sale, or get our couples to like us. We say it because it is just one of the reasons why we do what we do. Alex & Matt’s wedding was the start of something beautiful, for them, and for us.
