Before I get started talking about our next totally sweet and rad couple, and their incredible wedding, I wanted to touch on something that has caused some confusion for a few of you out there – the little date posted underneath our couples names and the location of their wedding. The date is in fact the date that we post the images on our blog, and not the date the wedding (or engagement session!) took place. We understand how this might make people scratch their heads and wonder, “hey! I want to see my photos too!’. Rest assured that we are full steam ahead and working with a furnace full of coal, and we have tons of posts coming your way .

With that out of the way, let’s get down to the many terrific moments of Maryellen & Brad’s spectacular wedding at Saltwater Farms Vineyard in Stonington – a location we have been dying to shoot at after hearing so many great things about. We were particularly excited about photographing there because we knew it would feel just like being in Sonoma & Napa counties back in California (two of the most magical places on the planet), and it didn’t disappoint. We knew we had two people that we loved being around and were a joy to photograph (as evidenced by their engagement session in NYC), and Maryellen & Brad could get married in matching potato sacks in a back alley and make it look good.

So when we rolled up to the venue, and saw what was in store for us, from Maryellen’s stunning wedding gown to Brad’s super cool black suit with matching tie (looking like he stepped out of a Quentin Tarantino movie), with the superbly designed details courtesy of the very talented ladies at Fancy Pants Event Planning , Margaret and Ann, we knew it was going to be an “ooh” and “ahh” kind of day. The flowers provided by Yumiko from Hana Floral Design were as perfect as we have come to expect from her, and we had the pleasure of working with the Boka’s again at The Light Mill Film Studios, who are not only some of the very best videographers anywhere, but are a blast to work with. There wasn’t a moments rest on Maryellen and Brad’s wedding day, with all of the things happening in front of our lenses at any given moment, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We say “more please!”, and wait to catch out breath at the end of the night when we can take a peek at some of the images, a little anxious to get them up on our blog (in order of course!) for everyone to see.

When two people are as in love with each other as Cherie & Steve are, it pours out through them and surrounds everyone even remotely close to them – so much in fact that Vicki and I had goosebumps during the ceremony and their portraits. Not only are they perfect together, they also look absolutely incredible together, and it would be pretty much impossible not to have a good time when you are with them. And we had an incredible time with them on their big day – the day where they cemented all of the things that makes them uniquely suited for each other. We loved the church where they got married (which had amazing views from the balcony of the stone architecture), and the grounds of their reception had a little something of everything for us to photograph. We even got to squeeze in a little photo time with them in between in Hartford! We absolutely love these two and can’t wait for an excuse to photograph them again

Sometimes, when Vicki and I are meeting with couples about photography for their wedding, the question arises – “have you shot at our venue before?”. Chances are very good that we have – however there are so many amazing locations in New England that it wouldn’t be possible to have photographed them all. We don’t ever think that going into a location fresh is a hindrance – all we need to do is poke around a little bit before we start the day with the bride and groom (and you wouldn’t believe how many times we have heard employees of a venue, appearing with hors d’oeuvre and cocktails for the bride and groom say “we’ve never seen anyone shoot back here!”), since it really needs to be about the couple and their day. With that being said, we have never photographed a wedding at the Round Hill House in Washingtonville, NY, but we sure would love to go back! It had pretty much everything we could ask for from a photographers perspective – a beautiful New England mansion with plenty of character, gardens bursting at the seams with summer flowers, and a huge (off the beaten path) sunlit field for portraits. But we are getting ahead of ourselves of course, because a wedding is nothing without people, and Kara & Matt are two of the sweetest, most beautiful and caring people we have had the pleasure of photographing. Not only are they animal lovers, we also adored their style (Kara’s Demetrios wedding gown was a knockout), that included the whimsical vintage coffee and food tins for their centerpieces, as well as their flowers by Lucille’s Floral Design (which looked like they were plucked from the gorgeous gardens surrounding the mansion), and the super cute cake toppers (kitties included!). It was an amazing day, spent with great people.
