When we meet with all of our couples for the first time, one of the things we always ask, and absolutely love hearing about, is the proposal. We hear just about everything you could possibly imagine, from the most extravagant and thought out plans, to spur of the moment, intimate affairs. While my proposal to Vicki fell closer to the “spur of the moment intimate” kind (and I don’t mind saying that I was so nervous that I clumsily handed her the jewelery box that contained the ring until I was reminded that I was supposed to put the ring ON her finger), Nils’ intentions of marrying Jessica were brought to fruition in one of our favorite stories ever. A story that has been recreated, on the opposite coast, in the waters of Central Park in New York City. On the evening Nils was to propose to Jessica, they had taken a gondola in Southern California for a quiet ride together when they happened upon a bottle floating in the water. Nils asked Jessica, “what is that there, do you see it?”, and when Jessica pulled it from the water and opened it, there was a beautifully written note asking Jessica to marry him.

When we spoke with them about their engagement session, we knew we wanted to incorporate not only the proposal, but also things that were important to them (including their favorite sonnet). They did such a beautiful job with the details, including a home made placard for their row boat, with the date of the proposal. It was not only fun photographing them (and steadying a rowboat and taking pictures isn’t the easiest thing in the world, mind you), but we got to spend the afternoon with them sharing laughs and experiences that we feel brought us all closer together not only as friends, but with each of our partners .

Jessica & Nils, what can we say but WOW! You both are such incredible people, and we had the greatest time being with you on your engagement session. We can’t wait to get the chance to photograph you both again!

With Vicki and I having photographed and been witness to as many weddings as we have (and being in our own wedding), we know just how much work it is to pull everything together and have it be as amazing as Luisa & John’s wedding was. It was the perfect partnership between them and the fabulous wedding planners at Ambiance Chic Wedding Designs – the extremely beautiful vision that Luisa & John had for their wedding day was exquisitely executed and totally flawless. Everything about Luisa & John’s wedding was incredible, with Vicki and I looking at each other and pointing off in the direction of a new detail and saying to each other “wow, look at that – did we get a shot of that yet!?!”. Luisa’s La Sposa wedding gown looked like it was made just for her, it was so beautiful, and we loved John and his groomsman’s socks that matched Luisa blue Christian Louboutins. There was even a poster made for the day from one of our photographs from their extremely hot engagement session that was visible to all of the guests as they entered the Glen Island Harbour Club. We don’t think a single thing was unaccounted for, and Vicki and I, over hot grilled pretzels with mustard that the Harbour Club had provided, happily gushed over everything we had experienced on the car ride home .

Vicki and I had the pleasure of meeting up with Asyia & Todd again after their intimate and private ceremony in their hometown of Philadelphia, and with the vows and commitments already said and done, we were treated to the splendor of a full day of food, dancing and celebration at the Rockleigh Country Club in New Jersey. They had just about everything anyone could desire at each of the gourmet stops in their cocktail hour (roasted quail, sushi and seared ahi tuna were just some of the amazing things on offer), and the reception looked incredible with the beautifully lit crystal chandeliers and amazing floral centerpieces.
