Happy Anniversary to Us!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Today is Erik’s & my 3rd wedding anniversary! Erik & I first met in 2001 in San Francisco. I had been living there since 2000, and Erik grew up in the Bay Area. We were friends for about a year before Erik nervously asked me out on our first date. I had made it pretty clear a few months prior that I was interested in being more than friends, and, well, Erik wasn’t ready. So that night, when Erik said he wanted to talk to me, I rebuffed him a bit. He followed me about 3 blocks to a coffee shop, where he asked me on that first date. A few days later we met at the Embarcadero Cinema to see A Mighty Wind. I remember being extremely nervous, and also knowing that he was the one. After the movie we walked for hours. To North Beach….through Downtown…and back to my apartment in Alamo Square (totaling about 6 or 7 miles). I remember not wanting it to end, and having blisters on my feet! And then three years later, in April of 2005, I picked out a ring at the Union Street Goldsmith and we took the short walk to a park overlooking the bay, and Erik got on one knee and proposed. Then we were married on April 8, 2006, which was my parents 39th wedding anniversary, and Erik’s sister’s 30th birthday! Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad, and Happy Birthday Lauren! Shortly after our wedding, we made the move to CT. And life has been so good to us! I love you Erik, and I am looking forward to another year of growing older with you ; )

There is nothing more exciting than Clients who “get” us. Our style…our vision. The first time I met Erin she was telling me about this amazing location in Collinsville, and how we would love it. She was right – the location was perfect! Not just for our style, but for theirs as well. When we arrived on Saturday the sky was spitting rain, but as if it knew we were cursing it, the rain stopped and gave us perfect light, for our perfect couple, at the perfect location.

I had to start with this one – even though it was one of the last photos from the day, it is my favorite!

We love bridges – especially old, rustic bridges like this.

They are really just adorable.

This one makes me happy.

We found a nice spot on the river.

Erik got this shot on a foot bridge (and was standing, dangerously, on the wrong side to get this shot!)

We love this shot – Joy!

It was just one incredible spot after another. Red is my favorite color!

Um, yeah. PERFECT!

Notice Rob is matching – a blue shirt with red underneath. I love how the shape of his red shirt looks like a heart.

They both have incredibly blue eyes!

Erik captured this accidentally on-purpose out of focus shot. Love it!

They fit together so nicely.

We drove a little to the reservoir and these steps were just too cool.

After being out of breath from walking up those stairs, it was worth it to see the reservoir.

Erik’s ring shot!

Erin and Rob we had so much fun with you! Thanks for sharing in our vision and trusting us along the way ; ) We can’t wait for your wedding in a few months!

Tyler + Ken – Weston, CT Engagement Session Photos

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Sunday was a misty, dreary day, which as photographers excites us a bit! The light is soft and diffused, and is perfect for even, glowing skin. Although if it rains too much is poses a bit of a challenge. Thank goodness the mist settled by the time we met Tyler and Ken, but the gorgeous light was still there. Perfect. This was the first time we met Tyler and Ken in person, which can be part of the fun of working with a couple from out of town. They live in Los Angeles, and from our phone and e-mail conversations we knew we had a few things in common – born and raised in CT and transplanted to California, and we share a love of Metallica, which told me all I need to know!! It was that much cooler meeting Tyler and Ken in person – to see first hand how they are each other’s best friend, and how they make each other laugh like no other couple I have ever seen. I can honestly say that just watching Tyler and Ken interact made Erik and I feel so calm – like we just wanted to observe these two incredible people. Together.

We met up at The Cobb’s Mill Inn in Weston, CT. This was a special place for Tyler because it was where her parents were married. I think Weston is one of the coolest towns in CT. And I was fascinated by the fact that The Cobb’s Mill Inn is one of the oldest buildings in the country.

We started off by the waterfall out back.

And walked around to the other side. As soon we walked over we found ourselves surrounded by ducks who were expecting to be fed.

Love this one Erik shot.

And then their personalities came out! LOVE LOVE LOVE these next two!

Love how they look at each other.

Too cute!

LOVE this one – isn’t she gorgeous?

Love this ring shot too ; )

The ducks were hovering, so Tyler and Ken joined their pack.

Cracking each other up ; )

Bringing a bit of fierceness!

To the bar inside for a beer!

Thank you Tyler and Ken for flying out here and meeting us. We had SO much fun with you both – your closeness and laughter inspired us! We can’t wait for more laughter and (some tears) at your wedding!!

xoxo,
Vicki + Erik
