Kara + Andrew – Guilford Yacht Club, Guilford, CT Wedding
June 27th, 2009You will remember Kara & Andrew from their fun engagement session in Fairfield, CT. It was a drizzly day then, and it was forecast to rain on their wedding day as well. We were convinced that the rain would stop at all the right moments, and Vicki and I were not disappointed with the way the events unfolded. It was an incredible day!
Wedding Coordination: Lindsay + Talia, Sixpence For Your Shoe
Florist: Elisabeth Zemetis, Blush Floral Design
Church: First Congregational Church of Guilford, CT
Venue: Guilford Yacht Club
Caterer: Jordan Caterers
Cake: J Cakes
DJ: Jon March, Powerstation Events
We wanted to start off with some of Kara’s details from the day. We especially liked her flowers, shoes and wedding gown, all beautiful and elegant.
Kara looking stunning here, being helped into her dress by her bridesmaids.
And here as well with some finishing touches
All of the details were beautifully done, including the programs for the ceremony.
We loved the flowers and the boutonnieres.
Kara definitely had an entourage making sure she arrived without a drop on her!
Kara hiding away with her Mom and her bridesmaids before the ceremony began.
Leading up to the moment!
The view from the balcony. We love how Kara and Andrew are intently and happily listening to the minister
I think Vicki is a master at capturing the emotion of the day. These next two shots say it all!
And we adore the way Kara is looking at Andrew here.
Love this one as well!
Vicki was commenting to me when we picked out this picture for the blog that it looked like they were filled with true joy in their own private moment while they were lighting the candles.
That lead up to this, one of our most favorite first kisses ever! We love the way Kara wraps her arm around Andrew.
After the ceremony, we were off to the Guilford Yacht Club to capture some portraits of the newlyweds. Not only had it stopped raining at just the right time, but we had a little visitor that decided to join us for some fun shots!
How great is that?
And we fell in love with this shot was well, Kara and Andrew walking hand in hand, Kara walking barefoot
Kara looking absolutely gorgeous here, and Andrew looking pretty pleased!
One of our favorite shots of the day, the moment “between” the moment.
We love their hands in this one.
And a fun dip!
Followed by the couple sharing some quality time overlooking the boats in the harbor.
Before the reception had formally begun, the guests were invited to relax with a game of Bocce on the back lawn.
The colors and details were awesome!!
Introducing Mr & Mrs!
Just one of the many reason we love the Guilford Yacht Club is that the balcony overlooking the dance floor makes for some really cool shots, like this one of Kara and Andrew’s first dance
A classic shot.
Vicki and I fell in love with both Kara and Andrew’s parents – they were all so proud of their children and were having a blast as well. Here is Kara and her father.
Love the flash of light in this one.
And in this one as well, as Andrew and his mother danced together in front of their family and friends.
This one gets us misty every time we see it. Just an incredibly touching moment with Kara and her parents looking on during Andrew and his mother’s dance.
All of the flowers were gorgeous, and the cake was as beautiful as it was delicious! The rings were stunning as well.
Speaking of rings, Andrew was caught hamming it up to Beyonce’s song “Single Ladies” – you know, the part about “if you liked it you should have put a ring on it”
There were even more fun details unfolding as the night progressed, like a whimsical candy bar, with treats provided by Kara’s aunt.
And to wrap up the end of an amazing day, we were able to capture the bride and groom in a wonderful moment on the outside balcony of the GYC.
Kara and Andrew, thank you once again for being such a fantastic couple to work with. I think we were even more excited than you both were that it stopped raining at all the right moments, and your joy and love for each other made our work all too easy!
xoxo,
Vicki and Erik
