As we clamber back on top of the great big pile of work we call our “to-do list”, we want to acknowledge a drought of blog posts and state of incommunicado during the storms that have hit the East Coast. While losing power for a week was a setback, it was nothing compared to what some of our couples, and so many people living on the shores of NJ, NY and New England faced. Our thoughts and prayers went with them and continue to do so, and we are grateful for our health and well being when others did not fare so well.

With that being said, we are pretty excited to be back in the swing of things and to share the first of what are many, many blog posts to come in the near future! We have so many great sessions, events and weddings to share, and we happily start with Trista & Brian’s wedding at the Inn at Longshore in Westport, CT. We absolutely adore these two. Love, love, love them! Not only for their sweetness and humor, but also for their creativity and terrific fashion sense. It just doesn’t get better than having the pleasure of photographing two people made for each other who are as easy to be around as they are to photograph. And there was lots to photograph!

Trista’s drop dead gorgeous gown by Enzoani framed her perfectly, accompanied by her beautiful flowers from Just for you Floral Design. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the always flawless work of Dana Bartone & Company that made sure Trista looked as gorgeous the minute she got out of the make-up chair as she did during the last dance of the night. We even managed to sneak in a “whiskey!” or two during the day (much to our delight), and it all happened at one of our favorite venues for a wedding. All in all, just perfect .

Sooo, what do you get when you mix fake handelbar mustaches, a beautiful bride and groom, an outdoor ceremony + tented reception with oh so gorgeous details, including meticulously hand written / designed chalkboard signs by the bride herself? Why the whimsically elegant wedding of Maureen & Kristian at a private residence in Wilton CT, of course!

It truly was an eye popping bonanza with something cool around every corner and on every table. As we have mentioned, we reaaally love outdoor weddings with tented receptions, and we couldn’t have had more fun at M + K’s wedding if we tried. We even uncovered that Erik & Kristian share a common hobby, one that is slightly nerdy, so we won’t tell on either one of them . The ceremony and reception had us torn between laughter and tears, with one of the sweetest speeches by Maureen’s Aunt, and we loved having the chance to see Talia & Lindsay from Sixpence For Your Shoe work their magic and ensure that everything not only looked perfectly, but went off without a single hitch. The flowers by Blush Floral Design were stunning as usual, and there were even hand rolled cigars for all the fellas courtesy of La Casa Grande Cigars. To top it all off, the food catered by Emily’s Catering Group was amazing visually and amazingly delicious.

All in all we had a wonderful time with Maureen & Kristian, and we are happy that we got to take photos of their big day as well as experience the magic of it all!

As one of the few people tasked to work with Ashley & David at their ah-mazing wedding at the Marsh Botanical Gardens in New Haven, CT that weren’t their close friends, we felt totally honored to be invited into their inner circle to photograph the big day! Ashley’s maid of honor set up and organized the whole event, and she did an amazing job. The flowers by Erin Ostreicher were out of this world, and were delivered in the most adorable way ever, and the always terrific D.D. Nickel did a beautiful job as always. While it was a sweltering July afternoon, you wouldn’t know it by how peaceful and sweet Ashley & David were together. And how could we not love them just a little bit more, when we asked if they would climb up on a tree branch, and they said “Sure! Why not?”. Did we mention we love tented receptions? They have such a romantic feel to them, and there is something so great about being bathed in the glorious dusk light while sharing your first dance as husband and wife .
