There is something about our first wedding of the year that is special to us. We have had time to reflect on the many things we have learned from and been inspired by the previous year, and the time we have spent together with the most cherished people in our lives, our family and close friends is nourishment for our creative process.
Our first wedding is almost always in the spring, and with the newly blossoming life around us, it is the perfect canvas for us to create what we have been blessed to be able to do – the documentation of a singularly important day in the lives of two people joining together in marriage. Alex & Matt strengthened the bond they already had together, and we feel stronger in our own relationship simply by having witnessed their ceremony and the celebration that followed.
We often tell people when we first meet with them that we can be overcome by emotions during a wedding, and that it happens quite a bit. This simply isn’t just something we say to make a sale, or get our couples to like us. We say it because it is just one of the reasons why we do what we do. Alex & Matt’s wedding was the start of something beautiful, for them, and for us.

Alex & Matt, you are amazing people. Thank you for inspiring us with such a magical wedding

New York City is a giant playground for photographers – pretty much everywhere we look, we find something new and noteworthy to be used as inspiration for our photo shoots. We also find totally new ways to see places we have been before – a hidden garden or side street we hadn’t explored yet pays off handsomely when we go off the beaten path. We spent the afternoon with Katerina & Dan not only on the cobblestone streets near their home, but also on the High Line and the neighborhood around it.
We had the best time reacquainting ourselves with some of our favorite locations, and exploring new ones to add to our list. Vicki and I were really excited to catch up with these two again – we fell in love with them the first time we met them at our studio, and we couldn’t wait to take their pictures. As you will see, not only are they super hot, they are also totally hot for each other and the combination yielded some spectacular results.
As a side note, one of the things we have come to expect about NYC is the unexpected. While we can usually count on some sort of heckling or gawking during a shoot, one thing we didn’t anticipate was one person offering up the garden in his private courtyard for us to take pictures in. Sadly, we were already at the end of our day, but it just goes to show that you can’t believe everything you hear about New Yorkers . We can’t wait for Katerina & Dan’s wedding in September (at the romantic Winvian resort) because we know first hand just how much fun it is to be around them!
Katerina & Dan, thanks for being so amazing to work with, and we will see you both soon!
xoxo,
Vicki + Erik
